What is the Procedure for Lip Augmentation fillers?
A small amount of cream is put on the lips and makes them very numb in approximately 15-20 minutes. The Lip Filler is gently inserted as required by the patient. The patient is always IN CONTROL and watching the change every few seconds.
Discomfort and swelling with the newer creams and fillers such as Juvederm Ultra is minimal. Bruising is nowadays uncommon < 1 in 20 patients get any significant bruising.
What do Lip Augmentation Fillers do?
The fillers themselves hold on to water and cause the lip to become plumper and more defined. There are various types of filler, depending on the needs of each patient but the vast majority (and in our view the only safe ones) are based on hyaluronic acid which is present in your skin.
Zenith uses only fillers that have been approved by the FDA (Food and Drugs Administration of USA). These have all been tested and found not to cause harm.
How do Lip Augmentation Fillers Work?
Each molecule of hyaluronic acid in your skin holds on to a lot of water and keeps your skin moist and hydrated – without it everything shrivels!
The effect on the lip is achieved by giving the Lip support where it is a bit weak and droopy. We can often turn up the corners of the mouth and get rid of that sad look as long as the fillers are started before it’s too late.
How long do Lip Augmentation fillers last?
They do vary, some Lip Fillers can last up to 18 months in some patients, whereas others last no more than 3-6 months. The effects improve with every treatment The doctor or nurse will advise which is most suitable for you.
There are softer fillers that give a more defined sharper look but break down quicker and thicker firmer fillers that give a plumper look and can last much longer. Other issues such as age and smoking have a big effect on the life of a lip filler. What you will find is that the results will certainly improve and last longer with subsequent treatments.
What is MOST IMPORTANT is that if you don’t like the finished result the filler can be dissolved in a few hours, although in practice, over thousands of patients we have not been in this situation.
