Jennifer Aniston confesses to laser skin peel "obsession"

Her glossy locks, trim figure and glowing skin are the envy of millions of women, but Jennifer Aniston has confessed that her youthful looks are not all down to good genes and healthy living.

The 43-year-old Hollywood star has admitted to undergoing cosmetic surgery procedures to maintain her flawless appearance. In a candid interview with US chat show host Conan O’Brien, Aniston confessed to being “obsessed” with laser skin peels costing around £1,000, which she dubbed “laser porn”.

“I became obsessed with laser porn. I did this thing called like, a peel,” said Aniston on Late Night with Conan O’Brien. “It’s extremely intense – you don’t realise you look like a battered burn victim for a week.”

She went on: “Then it [the dead skin on your face] just kind of falls off – for eight days.”

Aniston was on the talk show last month to promote her new film Wanderlust, in which she stars alongside Paul Rudd and boyfriend Justin Theroux.

According to fashion magazine Grazia, alongside cosmetic surgery procedures, Aniston spends $8,000 (£5,100) a month on anti-ageing lotions, beauty treatments, diet and exercise regime in order to stay looking young and fresh.

Syringe beats Knife for instant lift

THE SYRINGE AND MEDICAL LASERS are replacing the scalpel for many men and women seeking to regain their youthful bloom, defy the signs of ageing or simply enhance the natural beauty they already possess.
With demand for quick, easy and convenient aesthetic procedures spiralling, men and women who might previously have paid to go under the knife are now turning to injectable treatments to deliver excellent cosmetic results – at a fraction of the cost.

Dr Dinesh Maini of zenith cosmetic clinics Nottingham and London said there had been a phenomenal rise in clients asking for Botox or dermal fillers – with good reason.

Injectables are less expensive than surgery, have little or no ‘downtime’ and offer effective, rapid cosmetic solutions which can be performed professionally yet simply and speedily.

Dr Maini explained: “For people wanting fast results with little or no recovery time then injectables are perfect. Treatments can be carried out quickly, improvements are often seen immediately and there are no telltale scars to worry about.

“Surgical procedures such as facelifts are long and complicated and recovery can be slow. They also carry the obvious risks associated with any surgical operation.

“If people aren’t ready to take those risks or they feel they do not need such drastic action then injectables can be more appealing. Opting for the needle rather than the knife is a much less invasive option but can still provide superior results with fillers such as Sculptra lasting for up to three years.”

Zenith Cosmetic Clinics offers a wide portfolio of surgical and non-surgical treatments in Nottingham and London, including laser mole removal, botox, laser hair removal and bodytite liposuction all of which are carried out by a qualified practitioner following a one to one consultation.

Lines and furrows can be smoothed and softened by Botox or fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm Ultra which can last up to 12 months and offers a smoother more natural result than traditional hyaluronic acid fillers, and the revolutionary Sculptra, labelled a liquid facelift, which restores facial volume, resulting in younger, plumper, fresher looking skin.

Sculptra is fast becoming a favourite among those seeking a quick but enduring fix as it can last for up to three years, and like Juvederm, it has received approval from the respected FDA – the United States Food and Drug Administration which rubber stamps its safety and efficacy.

Botox hope for overactive bladder sufferers

Botox could be an effective treatment for the embarrassing problem of an overactive bladder, new research suggests.

A study found that injecting a small amount of Botox directly into the bladder wall of women suffering from a “weak” bladder improved symptoms, including wetting oneself, feeling a need to rush to the toilet, and urine leaks.

It reduced the average number of times they had an episode of incontinence from six times a day to less than once a day. It also cut down the number of times they felt an urgent need to go to the toilet, from around eight a day to three. Four out of 10 women who received the Botox jab became continent again after six weeks, and a third still had improved urinary continence six months later.

However, there were side-effects including a higher risk of developing a urinary tract infection and some women needing to use a catheter to go to the toilet as a result of paralysis in the bladder muscle.

The study, published in the journal European Urology, was carried out at eight urogynaecology centres in the UK from 2006 to 2009. Researchers analysed results from 240 women, 122 of whom were given Botox and 118 a placebo.

Vaser Hi-Def Coming to Zenith

In our drive to give Patients the best possible options to have the best treatments performed by the best people.

We will shortly be offerring Vaser and Vaser Hi-Def (TM) with the option of Local anaesthetic, Twilight anaesthetic and General anaesthesia.

Dr Maini comments “Vaser liposelection will sit alongside and nicely complement our BodyTite, Fat Transfer and Water assisted Lipo (Bodyjet). I feel that all these technologies have a place and it is very difficult for a patient to choose which one is right for them. We should be able to offer every effective possibility and advise our patients appropriately, rather than having just ‘one hammer for every nail!’”

Zenith is now the largest private medically run cosmetic clinic in Nottingham, the Midlands and probably the UK.

Cosmetic surgery on NHS scaled back in Midlands

Cosmetic surgery on NHS scaled back in Midlands

Cosmetic surgery paid for by the NHS will be cut back in the Midlands in a bid to save taxpayers’ cash, it was announced.

Under current policy, patients in parts of the Midlands get free cosmetic operations if their appearance makes them depressed or affects their self esteem. Procedures include breast enlargement, nose jobs, facelifts, tummy tucks, liposuction and removal of excess skin following weight loss.

The shake-up, which is designed to save money and put an end to a postcode lottery on care, means patients will have to rely on private medical insurance or pay for the surgery themselves.

Procedures such as varicose vein, tattoo and wisdom teeth removal will also be scaled back under the plans. Other operations will only be carried out after other treatments have failed.

The new policies are set to come into force from April 1 and will cover the whole of the Black Country. As a result, it is estimated there will be at least 470 fewer hospital admissions a year, the Express & Star newspaper reported.

Call for more evidence on Botox preventing migraines

Call for more evidence on Botox preventing migraines

Botox injections are unlikely to be approved as a treatment for migraines on the NHS, even though some sufferers could benefit from the anti-wrinkle jabs.

Botox was licensed for use on migraines almost two years ago. The treatment – a purified version of botulinum toxin A – is thought to halve the effects of chronic migraine pain. It works by blocking overactive nerve impulses that trigger excessive muscle contractions, preventing chronic headaches.

But in its latest draft guidance, the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) says there is insufficient evidence so far to recommend funding Botox for preventing migraine headaches on the NHS. The health watchdog wants manufacturer Allergan to provide more information before it makes a final decision later this year.

Joanna Hamilton-Colclough, director of Migraine Action, told the Daily Mail that using Botox for her headaches has transformed her life. “I've been able to work without a headache and sleep properly for the first time,” she says.

While the treatment may not help all migraine sufferers, Ms Hamilton-Colclough says clinical tests show a 50 per cent reduction in migraine days for some patients.

“We don't think the treatment is expensive when you take into account the cost to the economy from people needing time off work for migraines, and to the NHS from A&E treatment,” she says.

Zenith Performs Second Bodytite Liposuction Procedure Under Hypnosis!

AM was extremely anxious about his procedure, when informed of the possibility of undergoing hypnosis he was very keen.

Watched by his partner he was put in to a deep trance, but perfectly in control.

The procedure was carried out without any complications and A.M. was able to move about as requested.

At the end of the procedure, A.M. commented ” I am not sure whether I was completely under but it felt dead good, those 2 bottles of cold beer on the beach were a nice touch!”

Dr Maini feels that this is a novel approach worthy of further evaluation and offers excellent additional relaxation for the patient having Liposuction, BodyTite or other procedure without resorting to powerful drugs that cause disorientation.

Hypnosis is merely a state of deep relaxation that can be very helpful for those that are feeling anxious, the need for anaesthetic is substantially reduced thus making the procedure easier and safer for the patient.

Cutting-edge techniques transforming cosmetic surgery

Cutting-edge techniques transforming cosmetic surgery

Cutting-edge techniques transforming cosmetic surgery

Cosmetic surgery is becoming less and less invasive as patients increasingly take advantage of new technologies instead of going under the knife.

With these new treatments and procedures there are shorter and fewer incisions, meaning patients spend less time under anaesthetic and recovering in hospital, according to a report from the US by ABC News.

Among the new techniques on offer are laser treatments and devices that use ultrasound to melt away fat and tighten skin, such as Bodytite and Liposonix.

Dermatologist Dr Doris Day told ABC's 20/20 programme that non-surgical liposuction options are the latest development in resculpting the body.

“It's like liposuction, but it's a non-surgical approach. … It uses that high-density focus ultrasound to actually heat up and melt fat,” she said.

The same technology can be used for non-surgical facelifts. Dr Day said that the ultrasound “delivers heat very deep, that helps give a lift”.

The doctor told Barbara Walters on ABC that she does not "believe in ageing gracefully", adding: "I think you have to fight it every step of the way."

Dr Day says the latest advancements give dermatologists and surgeons a range of tools that provide more flexibility so they can find the best approach for each patient.
