VICTORIA – MY CO² LASER EXPERIENCE WITH ZENITH COSMETIC CLINICS
One of our patients, Victoria , recently underwent a CO² Resurfacing treatment at our clinic and has kept a blog of her results alongside a photo diary.
For some time i hadn’t been happy with my face, I couldn’t see my upper eyelids due to the amount of loose skin covering them, my jowls looked saggy, my neck had lots of loose skin and there were quite a few blemishes and age spots over my face, I had difficulty applying make- up on my eyes because of the loose skin and struggled to cover the blemishes. My confidence was dwindling and I generally felt that I was in need of a ‘freshen up’ so I made an appointment with Dr Maini at zenith. When I turned up for my appt, I was somewhat overwhelmed at how friendly and warm the staff were, they made me feel so comfortable, almost like I had known them for years! I was taken in to see Dr Maini and with his very friendly, calming, professional manner, he immediately he made me feel at ease.
He suggested that the co2 laser would have a good effect, and whilst I was somewhat sceptical, I decided to give it a try. He explained how it works and what I could expect. On the day of my appointment, I felt a little nervous, I was scared it would be painful and I was worried the treatment might leave me scarred., however, I happily put my faith in Dr Maini’s enthusiasm and trusted him to attain the best results.
First of all I had the anaesthetic gel smeared on my face and sat with a nice hot chocolate and a magazine waiting for my face to numb, I think the waiting was the worst bit! After a while I was taken into the laser room and I laid down on the couch!, this was it, no backing out now! After a few numbing injections in my face, the treatment started, I braced myself for the first ‘blast’ by squeezing my hands together and tensing my legsas Dr Maini counted down, 3, 2, 1, …. then I felt the laser blast onto the right hand side of my face, I wouldn’t say it was painful, I can only describe it as a sharp momentary burning sensation, so momentary that by the time my brain registered it, it had gone! After several more ‘shots’ I started to relax, most of the time Ihardly felt them at all, especially the ones over my forehead and cheeks. The ones along my jaw line and near my eyes were a little uncomfortable, but again bearable. The most painful one was the ‘shot’ on the end of my nose!
But again, it was over so quickly my brain hardly had time to register it. Before long, my face and neck had been well and truly covered and my treatment was over. Apart from my face feeling hot, I was in no discomfort at all at this point and was dying to look in a mirror. I was amazed when I did! Although my face looked like it was covered in red blotches and a bit battered, I could see an immediate improvement in my jowls and my upper eyelids had reduced. It was unbelievable and I was speechless! Vaseline was then applied to my face and neck and I was given antibiotics, Vaseline and cleanser, I was then allowed to go home. By the time I got home, my face felt quite hot and a bit tight. Still, it wasn’t painful, I just felt like I had been in the sun too long.
Day 1
I woke this morning to a face that looked like I had done 3 rounds in the boxing ring, my eyes are swollen and I can see my cheeks when I look down. The pigment in my skin has turned
to a dark brown colour and it looks like my face is covered in brown squares where the laser has been. Cleaning my face with the cleanser and reapplying the Vaseline is easy and although I
feel a bit uncomfortable, I am in no pain.
Day 2
My face is still swollen but not as much as yesterday, underneath my eyes look bruised though. My neck area feels a bit sore. The brown pigment marks are still there but some of them
have simply wiped off as I have been cleaning them, leaving a smooth pink skin underneath. I feel excited and can’t wait for them all to wipe off! Still no pain.
Day 3
My face is even less swollen than yesterday and I’m sure my eyelids have retracted as I can see my upper lid. My jowls have certainly tightened too! I can’t believe it! My neck is still sore and feels tight, but plenty of Vaseline eases it. More brown marks have wiped off! It s looking good.
Day 4

Apart from the inside corners of my eyes, there is very little swelling today . Lots more brown marks have wiped off and my skin looks smooth and even underneath. I can see on my nose
and cheeks that the large open pores that were there before have disappeared! I can see a little more of my upper eyelids too! My neck is healing well and isn’t as sore. I know its healing
because it’s very itchy today. I daren’t scratch it though in case I cause any damage, so I put Vaseline in my hands and rub them gently over my face, this relieves it somewhat.
Day 5

I have just woken and started to cleanse my face. The swelling has just about gone. Most of the brown marks are wiping off easily now and I am speechless as I look at the area around my
mouth, I don’t recognise it as being my mouth. A lot of the fine lines have disappeared, my jowls look tighter, the lines from my nose to my mouth aren’tas deep and my skin tone is even. My neck
seems to be taking a little longer to heal and the pigment marks haven’t really wiped off as much as my face. It’s not as sore asit was though.
Day 6

I can’t stop looking in the mirror today, the brown pigment marks have gone from my face and although there are still pale pink marks and a little bruising where they’ve been , I am
thrilled at the results. A lot of the fine lines around my mouth and eyes have disappeared, my eyelids have reduced, and my crow’s feet aren’t as deep, my jowls look ‘lifted’, and my skin is
smooth and evenly marked, any blemishes that were there before, have gone and so have the large open pores. The pigment marks have just about gone from my neck too, I can’t stop
smiling, already I feel more confident and i can ‘t wait to wear some make up. Will wait one more day though.
Day 7

I am going out in public today and I have applied my make- up. I can’t believe the difference, I look so much fresher than I did before and my make up went on so much easier, my
eyelids have retracted somewhat and i no longer have to stretch the skin on them in order to apply eye shadow. It is amazing! I feel so much better in myself and my confidence soared
even more whilst I was out and a couple of people I know complimented me on how well I looked! I now walk with my head up instead of looking at my feet. I can highly recommend this treatment to
anyone, It isn’t too painful, its bearable and well worth it for the excellent results it can achieve, both physically and mentally.
