Age Spots

Age spots are also known as Liver or Sun Spots and are blemishes on the skin associated with aging and UV exposure.

They range in colour from light brown to red or even black and are located in areas most often exposed to the sun, particularly the hands, face, shoulders, arms and forehead and head if hairless.

They usually occur from about the age of 40 onwards. The skin, being weakened, becomes less able to regenerate from sun exposure and age spots start to appear – particularly in those who spend a great deal of time in the sun. Age spots pose no health risk, however they can be unsightly, creating a ‘patchy’, less youthful appearance.
