A woman who has suffered for years with migraines has undergone a cosmetic surgery procedure which has solved her problem.
The 47-year-old began to get migraines when she was just 14, but now she has no pain in the affected area after having an operation to remove the muscle in her forehead known as the corrugator. This particular muscle is what allows people to frown, and, while the woman is now unable to frown, she states that the lack of migraines means she has “nothing to frown about”.
In addition to relieving migraines, the procedure has a cosmetic benefit. The clinic that undertook the work initially froze the corrugator with Botox to test is its surgical removal would ease the pain and, in this case, it worked.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, the patient observed: “It doesn’t work with every type of migraine but it worked wonders with mine.
“It costs £3,500 which is a lot of money but is nothing when you compare it to the billions the government spend on treating sufferers with drugs.”
Her husband added that both of their lives have been changed by the operation, noting that he has been “waiting years to see my wife happy and healthy again”.
